[Music Feature] Postmodern Jukebox

It's music groups like this that make me think like I was born in the wrong era. O___O

I discovered Postmodern Jukebox through their 1920s remix of Psy's 'Gentleman', which I think sounds so much better and classier (and closer to what actual gentlemen would listen to, lol)~

I already have an unhealthy attraction to 1920s America (it's a combination of the fashion, the music, stylish French bob haircuts and men in dapper three-piece suits), so remixing modern tracks and bringing them back to that era totally sounds like berries to me~ OvO Maybe Jay-Z should have turned to these guys for the soundtrack of 'The Great Gatsby', heh~

More retro vintage musical goodness under the cut below~!

[Music Feature] Goosehouse.jp: Great Music & Feel-Good Vibes :)

When I first saw Goosehouse.jp's acoustic song covers on their YouTube channel, first thing that caught me was how much fun they looked like they were having, and what an amazing great vibe they had, performing together. :)

It felt amazing just watching them on-screen, I'm sure it must have been even more infectious in-person! XD

~J-Rock no Tamashii IV: The Soul of J-Rock~

There is still a faint ringing in my left ear, where I have gone temporarily deaf (kinda like Katniss), due to a whole Saturday evening of blaring speakers and furious guitar-riffs and J-Rock music at the recent J-Rock no Tamashii.

~Fantasy Night: A Night for Final Fantasy Fans!~

What started out as a late-night mamak catch-up session with high-school mates led up to an honestly enjoyable night of great music, creative people and great friends. :)

Let's rewind to the night of November 22nd, a much looked-forward to Pondok Gang high-school reunion dinner. In attendance were Justin, Praveen, Alyaa and me, with honourary members Xin Xin and Kat.

The reunion dinner that started it all ...

After a marvelous burger dinner at The Burger Lab, we hung out for after-dinner drinks at a nearby mamak, where Kat and I started talking about her freelance mobile hairdressing service.

I wanted to improve my portrait photography, and I saw the opportunity in contributing to Kat's hairstyling portfolio. I would supply her with the photos to impress clients, while I would get much-needed practise for portrait photography. Seemed like a good trade-off. :D

So on the evening of 6th December, I found myself at The Venue, Pavilion KL, armed with my trusty camera and overwhelmed by the fact I had no idea what I was getting into ... Kat's sister Mariam would be playing in a Final Fantasy tribute concert, that much I knew ...

in which I randomly talk about music ...

Whenever I'm sitting at my office desk, either madly rushing out Action Plans like my keyboard was on fire, or sitting idly daydreaming and pretending procrastination was my actual job, I'm listening to music.

Music helps me concentrate. Music helps me write. Music helps me block out annoying Sales people who are hounding me for things, while I struggle to resist throwing my chair out the window. Music sometimes can be therapeutic  :)

In today's music industry, which is saturated with songs of questionable material values, sex, alcohol, getting wasted, not being a responsible human being, and Nicki Minaj, I'm happy to know there are still people out there who are making beautiful music.

Now Listening To ...
